My name is Sara McClendon, but the students usually call me Mrs. Mac. I am over the moon to be at MXR this school year and so excited to get to be a part of the great things that happen for kids at this school every single day!
This is my 10th year in education. During that time I have served the field in multiple roles, including as a classroom teacher, site-based instructional coach, district trainer, and eventually a regional and state teacher trainer for the State Department of Education.
I am an Oklahoma girl and moved with my family to AL just 3 years ago. I received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and continued my education from there. I have since earned a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on literacy, as well as a M.Ed in Educational Leadership. Teaching, learning, and supporting students, families, and teachers is a passion of mine that I take very seriously and have dedicated most of my adult life to.
I am married and my husband is from here in AL. We met in NC while I was in college and he was stationed there in the Marine Corps. We have 4 daughters, including one set of twin girls. As you can imagine, our home is full of laughter, tutus, glitter, and love!
When I'm not at school, I am usually chauffeuring one of the girls to volleyball, dance, basketball, or some other activity, but I also enjoy reading, learning, cooking with my husband, and experiencing new places with my family. We love to cook together as a family, experiment with new recipes, foods, and try new restaurants. All 6 of us are self-proclaimed foodies!
I am so excited about this school year and the many opportunities it brings. I look forward to working with your child and supporting their continued improvement in the areas of reading and math. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me any time.
